of that employee.Performance appraisals are used for different purposes, depending on the needs of the company.These different needs can best be divided into two groups; to improve the work performances and for making work-related decisions.When managers use performance appraisals to improve work performances it can be used to provide performance feedback and to help deciding which employee needs more training and which employee is ready to move on.When a manager provides performance feedback it means that the manager informs the employees about their job performances and when performance appraisals are used for making work- related decisions, it helps managers decide which employees should be rewarded and which employees should be “punished” for their job performances.When managers use performance appraisals to motivate their employees they will focus on the good qualities of that employee.It is important for employees to know what they are doing well in their jobs and what they need to improve to be better in their jobs.Employees who are aware of their good job performances will be more motivated to keep up their good performances because they know that the company they work for satisfied with the work that they are doing.
