oyfriends to ask her out but she never succeeded. Although most of her attempt’s to get an old boyfriend of Sarah’s was unsuccessful, she did win one gentleman heart. In November of 1977, Sarah had invited Diana on a weekend gathering with her and her current boyfriend Prince Charles. Diana once told friends, “I kept out of the way I remember being pudgy, no make-up, an unsmart lady, but I made a lot of noise and he seemed to like that”(Morton,Story49). He seemed to have liked her more than she thought, after that he invited her to his thirtieth birthday at Buckingham Palace in November 1978. Even though Diana was not Charles date for the evening she felt like a queen because she had gotten invited, and her sister was a little jealous. After the death of her father, Charles and Diana became much closer. They attended royal gatherings and other private affairs together. On Friday, February 6,1981, Prince Charles asked Diana Spencer to marry him. On July 28,1981, the fairy-tale wedding took place. Diana Spencer married the Prince of Wales at St. Paul cathedral as 750 million people watched on their television sets (Morton, Story 95). After the wedding Diana hoped for peace, ,privacy, and for things to turn back to reality. Then she began to understand that she was the Princess of Wales, and she was going to be more fashionable (Morton, Story 95,86). She told friends “I was the one who always pitched out front, whether it was my clothes, what I said, what my hair was doing, everything when actually we wanted to be, what we wanted was our work and as a team”(British Broadcasting Company 7). No one ever told Diana what they expected of her as the Princess of Wales; she took the role upon herself(British Broadcasting Company 3).
