As a manger, one wants to achieve TQM in theservice industry and its a must when someone’s healthcare is involved in this process.First, I had to look at what was my company’s goal. My company’s goal, like thebook, it is to make money. We are in business to make money off the needs of the elderlypopulation. We have assisted living complexes in almost every state. We sale a service,to make a profit. The better we are at offering good service and good healthcare the morelikely we are at making money for the company.In The Goal, the problems related to production were causing the plant managerto question what could be done to change his plant and make it more profitable. He cameacross many different problems along his search for answers. He soon relized thatbottlenecks were a bottomline production problem.I quickly thought how his might apply to my industry. The bottlenecks I must dealwith at work are residents that need more medical care and assistance with activities ofdaily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. This is the most time consumingpart of taking care of a resident. What solutions could I use to solve the problems of thebottlenecks in my company. Like the plant, they prioritized this part of production withdifferent colored tags and bringing in an old machine to help increase production.Without fixing this bottleneck they were never going to have a finished product to shipon time. In my case, my finished product is a well taken care of resident. The bottleneck Iidentified in my line of work was the morning care of all the residents, specifically themore acute care residents.As a manger, I decided to focus on these tasks of resident care in the morning.
