He was able to accomplishthe task of making the reader understand how the main character and his supportingcharacters were going to fix the problems of this production plant. The terms andconcepts were clear and comparing them to those of a class text would reveal the samedefinitions and explanations. But this book helped the reader better understand the technical terms of TQM by showing them in a type of real world situation. The book alsoshowed that some of the everyday things that are taken for granted can be used to solveproblems in business. In particular, when the author gives the example of his son’sboy-scout troop walking in the woods. Al, the main character is trying to find a way toget the boys to walk in a steady-paced line. After he solves this problem, he then applies,what he learned from the boys, to his problem in the plant. This one example enabled thereader to fully understand the concept of bottlenecks. Unlike a text book, this novel wasable to develop a way to explain bottlenecks, like no text book could ever come close todoing in a classroom.The level of writing for this book was appropriate for the target audience. Afterreading this book, I would recommend this book to friends and colleagues. Mangers thatare already in big business would benefit from this reading, students are lucky that theywere introduced to this book before graduating from business school. It will betterprepare these students in the workplace when problems arise. The author should becongratulated on his work of teaching the audience how to accomplish the goal of anorganization. Without creative minds such as his, many would not be motivated to furtherthe cause of their business or industry.
