n and being there for each other they both rose to a higher standard in the eyes of God.On the other hand, the directive leadership occurs when the leader tells his subordinates exactly what they are supposed to do. This type of behavior involves planning, making schedules, setting goals and behavior standards. Directive leadership is used most often when the subordinates need clear directions and authority. People working under directive leadership find that it is easier to be told what to do as opposed to thinking for themselves. The directive leader has the propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence. He can also be task-oriented because he is more effective when the situation is in his favor. He can excel because the task is clear and he has the power.David is a prime example of one who uses directive leadership. He showed this when he decided that he wanted Bathsheba for himself even though she was married. On the eve of her husband’s death, David sent this message to his first in command Joab. “Put Uriah in the front line where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die,” 2 Samuel 11:14. He did this because he knew that he had the power and no one could stop him. To make this more ironic, the message was brought by Uriah, no knowing that would be his last day alive. This could be considered a situational theory which means David created a situation when he decided to sleep with another’s mans wife. He used his subordinate, Joab who carried out his directives to the letter without hesitation. Although David gained the woman, he was still unhappy because he had sinned against God.Participative leader consults with his or her subordinates about decisions. This type of leadership involves asking questions, asking for opinions and suggestions. They also encourage participation in decision-making and meeting with subordinates in the workplace. W...
