(Bulow “Oskar...”).Schindler’s actions had an effect on society when he did them, and still have an effect today. The fact that a single man would put himself out to save so many people is amazing. While most people simply looked the other way or helped the Nazis, Schindler took an active role. He saved over 1,000 lives, and by doing so, he showed others that it was possible to do something, and not just sit by passively.Another effect his actions had then was that he gave the Jews a simple thing called hope. During the war, after a certain point, many Jews gave up hope of anyone helping them. By Schindler giving them jobs, food, and safety, he gave them hope also. Because of him, they survived what many people see as one of the worst atrocities mankind has committed. Hope may not seem like that big a deal to some, but to a person who has had all of their rights, all of their possessions, and their family taken from them, hope is the one thing that can make the difference between the person who survives and the person who doesn’t.Today there are more than 6,000 descendants of the Schindler Jews. To think that one man’s kindness could make this happen makes a person wonder what might have happened had even one other person done what Schindler did. Thanks to him, there are more descendants of Schindler’s Jews than there are Jews is all of Poland today.Finding hope in the middle of such evil was very hard, but some of the lucky ones found just enough to sustain them. Even today, the example of Schindler can be used to help prove to people that hope can be found, and that no matter how bad things are, somewhere there is a good person, with a kind heart and caring soul, who will be that hope.As pointed out, the movie Schindler’s List...
