He also stated that the working class would only find work in a capitalist society if their work would increase the capital of their employers. Therefore the proletariat (working class) is no more than a commodity in the eyes of their employers. Because of the widespread mechanization of factories and division of labor, the working class has lost all individuality of work character. Marxs main idea was to get everyone together to work for what their work was really worth. There is a very similar concept to this in capitalist countries today, employees in a company sometimes own stock of that company, and their investment grows as the values of their work increases. Although very similar, Marx would have the employees own 100% of the stock as long as they work there, having no one employee own more than the other. Marxs concept is a very basic one. Although he believed that all men, women, and children are equal and that they all should be treated the same. This concept was very relevant for its time as many proletariats were being taken advantage of by the bourgeoisies.
