As conniving as he is treacherous, Macbeth becomes unstoppable on his march to take the throne. It is easy to see his mindset when Duncan formally names his son, Malcom, as the successor to the throne. The reader gets a glimpse into the inner workings of Macbeth after this when he says, Stars, hide your fires; / Let not light see my blacks and deep desires: / The eye wink at the hand! Yet let that be (I, iv, 57-59). Macbeth is vexed at Duncans choice of successor and wishes to overcome the situation with murder.Although Othello has made an enormous mistake by killing Desdemona, giving up is not his style. Instead, he reacts in the way a noble man should after mistakenly killing his wife. Othello is a great tragic hero, the seemingly untouchable man, and the army general with the beautiful wife. He is the noblest of men and the greatest of leaders. He is triumphant in war and love, the hero at his greatest moment. If it were now to die, Twere now to be most happy, for I fear My soul hath her content so absolute, That not another comfort, like to this Succeeds in unknown fate (II, I, 190-194). As noble and strong as Othello is, he is inexperienced in the affairs of the heart. This one flaw allows Iago to stir up jealousy and rage inside of him, which leads to his own untimely demise.Othello and Macbeth were great in their own respects, yet flawed as well. While no man is perfect, for a person to commit the same acts as these two men would leave him scarred for life and longing for deaths sweet release. While both men were in the wrong, they immediately felt the pain and anguish of remorse, wanting nothing more than to take back what they had done.
