d be a big help. Spain was taking on new responsibilities in the western world, it was important for the country to show that they were anticommunist and this was a good way to do it. I wouldn’t say that Spain has a specific role in NATO but every country votes on current issues and can ask for assistance if needed from the other members. Spain’s foreign policy has usually been one of neutrality but if they were to take sides in a WW I feel they would side with the western world. In dealing with the transition of the government Spain faced many problems. To transform a dictatorship into a monarchy can’t be done overnight. Economic and political crisis were occurring at the same time. The government didn’t know which issues to deal with first. So many agreements were made between the political parties and the government. These issues about labor unions and civil service jobs helped to strengthen the economy while the main focus of the government could be this new system.3.“Originating in the 1880s when the Confessional movements sought to mobilize their followers into self-conscious communities, this process became in the 1920s the dominant and most conspicuous feature of social organization. Trade unions, educational bodies, welfare schemes, cultural associations, employers organizations and the media, all became orchestrated on the basis of would-be hermetic pillars topped by political parties.” This is the definition given by Ken Gladdish for the definition of a pillar. But in simple words it is the separation of religions around the country. It seems to be mostly geographical location that separates these religions. Depending on which pillar you fell into would determine the type of TV you watched, the newspaper you would read, and the choir you would sing in.
