s is that cattle and sheep that have been born abnormally large have been too big for the mothers uterus. Having no room to move about, resulting in babies being born with lame or limb deformities. Other problems that result are weak kidneys, hearts, lungs, and a high rate of cancers and other diseases, which then results in high numbers of premature deaths. If these problems can be fixed then would the cloning of humans be an ethical thing to do? The abnormality rate in cloned animals is close to thirty percent. In human babies, the normal rate of congenital defects is around two percent, I dont that the world would tolerate that number jumping to three or four percent. (Desire 12) Currently the ethics committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine issued a report in November saying that cloning, as a treatment for infertility did not currently meet standards of ethical acceptability. (Desire 12) In conclusion, what moral issues would human cloning raise? Some religions teach that human beings are fundamentally different from other mammals - that humans have been imbued with immortal souls by a deity, giving them a value that cannot be compared to that of other living things. Human nature is held to be unique and sacred. Scientific advances that pose a perceived risk of altering this "nature" are angrily opposed. (Declaration) In any case the cloning of humans I believe is some that cannot be avoided. Weather it is ethical or not the evolution of science is unenviable. Human cloning will or has been already done, and the best thing that we can hope for is that the practice is used for the right reasons and not the wrong ones....
