The shoot-out involved that of the Clantons and the Mclaurys vs. the Earps and their good friend Doc Holliday. The Clanton Family that had Old Man Clanton leading the family followed by his three sons Joseph Isiah ('Ike'); Phineas, and the youngest of them Billy. The Mclaurys that were Robert, Thomas, and Frank. Allied with both families was William C. Claiborne. Sheriff Behan having been the Head of the Law didn't want the fight to happen, so being the wimp he was he tried telling Virgil, the City Marshal at the time (who had made Morgan, Wyatt, and Holliday Deputies for the battle), that there was no need for them to go in to this fight because he had already disarmed them. Not paying any attention to what Behan was saying, as they walked down the street in a line side by side, they came to the spot outside of the O.K. Corral, they could see in plain sight that Behan had not disarmed them and the shooting erupted in seconds. Virgil not wanting the fight to happen never fired a shot, but was struck in his leg bringing him to the ground. Morgan was also shot, but he was shooting back unlike his oldest brother, shooting Billy Clanton. Doc was also shot right in the hip, but he had blasted Frank Mclaury with his shotgun, knocking him down as he staggered into the street where he died, When Tom shot Doc he was soon gunned down by Wyatt, who had escaped without a scratch. Ike Clanton had gotten away from the battle unarmed, but still had to escape a blast from Doc's shotgun. Billy Claiborne had fled immediately after seeing what was coming. The fight had lasted an estimated thirty seconds, it was believed that 17 shots were fired, and at the end when all the smoke and dust cleared of the eight men that were involved 3 were dead, 3 badly wounded, and two escaping ...
