Doc and Kate would finally be in Tombstone in 1880 in late June."(Dee Brown, 1993) "Virgil Earp was made City Marshal in Tombstone for a time, but failed in the up coming elections for lawmen the next two years. A big robbery that had brought trouble to Tombstone was the one that over-took Kinnear's Stage that was carrying money. Two men were killed during the robbery, that of the driver and a passenger riding along side the driver. The word was that there were four men that were involved with the robbery, Bill Leonard, Jim crane, Harry Head, and Doc Holliday. Wyatt not wanting to believe that his friend Doc was involved had stood up for him. The Earps in hot pursuit of Leonard, Crane, and Head, A seventeen-day search and they returned empty handed. Wyatt then made a deal with Ike Clanton to bring his friends down and Wyatt would give Ike a reward for their capture. Later that same year Crane the last survivor was killed by Wyatt, now leaving Doc to feel safe from all people trying to blame the robbery on him.
