The Rebellion Dimension of the Drug Use Situation

ss of my study would be its lack on incorporation of other important variables into the scene. For example, the rebellion aspect can be affected by other important variables itself as they affect drug use directly. My correlational study will have somewhat high external validity while probably having moderate to low internal validity due to the number of variables affecting it that could cause different patterns to occur within the study. Also these other variables play an important part in increasing drug use such as depression and alienation. My main strength is I will be using data taken from the last 30 years in order to gain a more solid picture of any relationship that might occur. The main test that I will incorporate into my analysis will be Pearson’s R. A scatter plot would be formed and the test performed from the data in order to find if by knowing another value of the independent variable that we can closely predict the value of the dependent variable. Another way to see if there is a pattern between the independent and dependent variables will be to create a line graph and visually look for such a pattern. Another test that I would like to perform as an added indicator to seeIf rebellion is a viable variable is an actual survey of those who currently use drugs and those who have tried them in the last year. Questions will be based on the rebellion aspect, peer pressure, depression, and etc. variables. From this I will look at the frequency of cases that that included rebellion as a personal motive for the sampling or usage of a drug. From there I will use such measures as Yule’s Q because it will be a 2 by 3 table with the values of yes/no for drug usage and low/medium/high for the rebellion aspect. I will use the table to calculate Somer's D and gamma to discover the strength of the relationship. Statistical Findings There are three possible relationships to be found in this study. One is that as drug use i...
