21st Century Managers

reviews indicate that I am above average in my time management capabilities, however when I critique myself I would place myself in the average to needing help category. The things that I struggle with during a typical workday are: meetings, phone calls, appointments, travel, mail, emails, correspondence, projects, and conversing with employees. I am scheduled to take a course on Time Management and Human Resources in December and hope that it will allow me to be rated in the Exceptional category on my future performance reviews. I feel I am at my best when I am overwhelmed with projects. I do not sit still very well. Ethics in the 21st Century should get easier for supervisors and managers. Anyone in a supervisory or managerial position is often sent to training on how to deal with ethical issues and concerns. Age, gender, and race are still common forms of discrimination that are heard of throughout corporations. Sexual harassment, inappropriate language, joking, teasing, and offensive behavior are other areas that test an organizations ethical standards. I have never received a complaint on an ethical issue, and plan to keep it that way. I believe that corporations are going to provide even more information to supervisors and managers on ethics as possible as we move into the 21st century. This is a very big concern for most organizations and they do not want to have lawsuits due to a lack of ethics. This hurts both their companys image and their pocketbook. Many companies are preparing for this through hiring an employee to provide training and take care of potential ethical issues. Rewarding employees in the 21st century will become expected by the employees, which will add another task for managers and supervisors. It has already begun with companies providing meals, sign-on bonuses, trips, cars, and 401K yearly contributions. The United States has many job opportunities and not enough people to fill them. ...
