chain.Walgreen began this great venture by a purchasing local drugstore for $6,000. He soon added bright lights to create a cheerful, warm ambiance in the store. The aisles were widened for convenience, and the selection of merchandise was improved and broadened. Walgreen always kept prices fair and reasonable, and offered a service that was like no other drugstore around. The merchandise was then delivered to the home of the customer while they were still on the phone with Walgreen. The customer was amazed at the fast and friendly service. This became the “Two Minute Drill.” This drill created customer loyalty and a positive image. Walgreen continued to take advantage of new opportunities and enhance a growing customer base. With this in mind, Walgreen decided to add hot food to the wide variety of items available in the stores. This was the addition of the soda fountain. The customer friendly chain store was continually looking for new and innovative ways to please the consumer.
