t than Willys is with Linda. Before Lena gives Walter part of the insurance check for the liquor store, Walter treats Ruth with extreme disrespect. When he finds out that she is pregnant and is going to have an abortion, he does not try to stop her. He does not even comfort her. He just remains concerned in his misery of not getting the insurance money. However, Ruth does not just take it and act like it does not effect her. She screams at him and cries, showing emotion.Willy also treats Linda with disrespect. Not only does Linda just take the abuse, but also she gets upset at Biff for sticking up for her. Linda says, Whatd you have to start for? You see how sweet he was as soon as you talked hopefully? Come up and say goodnight to him. Dont let him go to bed that way (Miller, pg 65). Unlike Ruth, Linda just takes the abuse time after time, and expresses no emotions about the way Willy treats her.Linda supported Willys dream from the beginning, but it took Ruth a while to support Walters. However, once Ruth supported Walters dream, she handled it quite differently than Linda did too. Linda attempted to make Biff feel guilty for not following through with what Willy wanted from him. Ruth did not ever try to make Lena feel guilty, instead she just expressed that she really thought Walter needed something more out of his life than what he already had.The two plays also discussed problems that occur due to prejudices.
