ENC1101 Memory essay

e door with her smiling wrinkled face greeting us as we walked through. As we entered the house we were led into a main room. It was simple and relaxing. To the right was a large window that overlooked the cobblestone driveway and entrance to the garage. To the left were two sectional floral Victorian couches that connected together in the corner of the room with a small square wooden table. On top of the table was a small picture of my Auntie and her husband. On the end of the room was a hallway. It led to a large room that contained the library.When visiting Auntie Anne’s home our first target was the old library. We had many wondrous adventures in the dusty room. Surrounding the walls of the library were shelves of caged books. Some of the older books were chained to prevent the books from being removed from the room. What seemed like hundreds of books filled the cabinets and shelves that lined the walls. The centerpiece of the library was a large red leather chair whose metal buttons had begun to tear through the seams. A large stained brown rug covered secret compartments on the floor, which used to be used to hide the family’s treasures. I loved spending time in this room. I remember many times when my Auntie would read us several stories. On special occasions she would read us my favorite stories from 1001 Arabian Nights. I would dream of riding horses, meeting belly dancers, and going into the secret cave as I laid on the brown shaggy rug with blankets and pillows as she read from the red chair. My cousins, my brother, and I would often play in her home. Our favorite game was “hide and seek.” Like I’ve said, we were free to do what we wished, but there was only one room we where weren’t allowed. Auntie would tell us stories of the ghost that live in the room. White sheets covered the mirrors to be sure the ghost would not notice that he was dead. We thought this to be a ...
