or concerts. They had to put up large movie screens on both sides of the stage because you cant see the stage from the bleachers. There is a race every Labor Day, the last day of the fair. You can hear the cars from all over the fairgrounds and it gets really, really annoying after a while. Some artists appearing this year include Christina Aguilera, Goo Goo Dolls, and Weird Al Yankovic. I plan on seeing Weird Al on Sunday. The part of the Grandstand that we are going to now is the main building. It consists of two floors of merchants selling all sorts of things, from pianos to software to golf clubs to the latest cooking gizmos. A friend of ours works at the Nadachair booth. He is my sisters friends teacher. We usually visit him every year. A Nadachair is basically a cushion for your back with a strap around your waist for extra support. The East Room is just a separate room with more of the same stuff. I usually dont go there because it is uncomfortably hot in there. The main building and the East Room are under the bleachers. Outside the grandstand is the Corn Roast. They sell grilled corn that is absolutely fabulous. We each grab an ear, then head down the street towards the Giant Slide. The Giant Slide is a green and yellow wavy slide that is about fifty feet tall and thirty feet wide. It costs $1.50 to ride. You walk up a gradually rising green and yellow staircase, with each flight alternating color, If you concentrate on the stairs on your way up, you get dizzy. This is a really fun attraction and is not to be missed. After a couple slides we head to the DNR Building. They have a wealth of information about the DNR and the wilderness in general. They even have many animals on display (behind fences, of course). They also have a shooting gallery.
