his view had some positive things to say, and I wanted to clarify that in the beginning. I was primarily impressed with the heavy emphasis that dispensationalism placed on mankind's need for salvation. I feel that in all the scurry of calculating what will happen when, we have often lost sight of what this really is; it is not a system that can be figured by man, but Gods manifestation being exhibited to man.Historic Premillennialism In historic premillennialist, there are four clear views that hold strongly too. These views are what distinguish them from the previous views already examined. The first is God does not have two separate peoples with distinct destinies (Jews/Gentiles . . Israel/Church), instead, there is only one general person. Second, Gods kingdom is both present and future. Third, "the signs of the times" are in present day ever since the first coming of Christ. Lastly, the second coming of Christ is not a two step, but one stage event (Hoekema 183). Before any major rapture or resurrection phenomena can occur, historic premillennialism will tell you there are four major events that must first develop before the return of Christ and / or, the millennium. First, the nations of the world will be evangelized; second, the great tribulation; third, the great rebellion, and lastly, the antichrist will appear (180). Following these events, the second advent will take place. Comparable to the amillennialist at this point, historic premillennialists believe that the second coming occurs in one phase, not the traditional two. In this single stage, all believers who died will be raised, and all living believers will be transformed and glorified, furthermore, the two assemblies will be caught up in the clouds and taken to the Lord to then descend with Christ to the earth.
