Olmos, one of the critiques that I researched states that in Camino Real which received critical acclaims for is representative of many of Bosch’s works in its theme and narrative techniques: all the stories deal with the live of campesinos in Bosch’s native Cibao region of the Dominican Republic and depict the struggles of rural peasants to survive in a difficult environment in straightforward and powerful narrative style. Another aspect of Bosch’s writing the Olmos covered, which really describes his writing is the aspect that Bosch is often less concerned with character development than with plot. Many characters are anonymous, with little interiorization, and the conflict frequently revolves around a confrontation with others or within the characters themselves that obliges the protagonist to make a decision and act upon it. In another point of view with the criticism of Juan Bosch’s David: The Biography of a King reviewed by Wagenheim, we see another side to Juan Bosch. This book deals more with the political part of Bosch’s life and not with his life as a Dominican campesino. Wagenheim points out how this book certainly causes a strange alliance of readers: students of the Bible and those of Caribbean polities. In the biography of David Bosch reveals probably as much about him as it does about the Israeli King whom he admires so effusively. The text in this book is not at all explicit in text, but we could still sense that Bosch was searching for applicable wisdom in the life story of a man who transformed Israel from a scattered pastoral community , prey to foreign domination and internal squabbling, into a powerful, prosperous nation, states Wagenheim.
