Eisenhower on July 22,1945 , . . .the Atomic Bomb is no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives.(Wheeler 72) The two plans that were devised to put an end to the war without the use of the Atomic Bomb were the two land invasion plans .the first plan was called the Olympic and the other called the Coronet.(Oneal 30) The commanders of the American forces stationed in Japan thought that Tokyo the capital city would of been hard for the Japanese to defend so the Olympic would have a good success level and if this plan failed the Coronet plan would of been put into action.(Oneal 30) These two ways of ending the war were never used because of the Atomic Bomb. Eisenhower was 100,000.The amount that did die was 80,000.(ONeal 40)The Atomic bomb was not just used to end war but was used to show the Russians that the United States was a world power as well as a nuclear power.
